Alex Ramsden

Alex Ramsden is an internationally renowned Plastic Surgeon with a special interest in bone and joint infection.  He has been the lead Plastic Surgeon to the Oxford Bone Infection Unit since 2010, developing an exceptional knowledge and experience in the treatment of this complex area.  

He was the first Plastic Surgeon to be awarded the prestigious European Bone and Joint Infection Society Travelling Fellowship in 2016 and now regularly hosts international visitors to the unit in addition to teaching at national and international courses and conferences.  

He has developed techniques to treat wounds and ulcers caused by underlying infection that are effective and give robust long term results.   Working closely with orthopaedic colleagues on a daily basis, both in clinic and theatre, he is committed to restoring the quality of life to patients affected by bone infection.

He publishes regularly in international peer reviewed journals and if frequently an invited speaker and UK national and international plastic and orthopaedic conferences and teaching courses such as BAPRAS, WRSM and EBJIS.  He completed UK plastic surgical training with international fellowships in Japan, Australia, Spain, Germany and Switzerland.
