Removal of Metalwork

Metalwork is commonly used to fix broken bones.  However, once the fracture has healed it has served its purpose and is no longer need. Sometimes it can cause problems, such as irritation if prominent or cause ongoing pain due to its presence.  Occasionally there are other reasons for ongoing pain, with an unrecognised infection being one such example. We can consider removal of metalwork following fracture fixation, even in cases who have had previous plastic surgical reconstruction following open fractures.

We will assess your case and advise you on the best course of action.  In the most straight forward situations, the procedure may be undertaken on a day case basis.

We have expertise in removal of broken or difficult to extract metalwork.
